The New York Times posted a great op Ed piece authored by Nicholas Turner, president of the Vera Institute of Justice and Jeremy Travis, president of John Jay College about the delegation they led to visit and learn about the German prison system.  It was a privilege to be a member of this delegation.

The German system is radically different than the American system. Visiting the prisons it was hard to imagine just how politically different the climate became post WWII in Germany.  I hope you will read this editorial and share with those who hope that in America we can untangle some of our own criminal justice issues that start with our lack of attention to value, dignity and worth of the life of everyone who has been harmed, has caused the harm and is affected by the crimes committed in our communities.
